The Randy Custis Memorial Fund

  Dear Supporters of Eastern Shore Youth,

    I am writing to you in hopes that you will participate in the Randy Custis Memorial Fund's second campaign drive. We now need to raise $65,000 to construct an equipment building to house our field equipment-lawn tractor, tools, etc. - all the things necessary to put kids on baseball diamonds. To date, we have already raised $15,000 toward our goal.

    We have already completed the purchase of the park's land and have finished constructing a playground, as well as five softball, baseball, and tell ball fields. Still, there is more work to be done. Nearly 100 percent of the money raised has been dedicated to purchasing the Nasswadox property, playground equipment, and to constructing the fields. Gracious volunteers have accomplished almost all of these efforts, supported by donations from groups like the Exmore Rotary which recently painted the park's eight dugouts.

    During the baseball and softball seasons, 450 local children play on the Randy Custis Memorial Park's fields. With the addition of the playground, the players' younger siblings also have a place to play during games. Other recreational activities at the park include Shore-wide horse trail rides, and even a circus. The Randy Custis Memorial Park promotes wholesome family values as a vital community center where the whole family can "play."

    Please help us reach our goal of raising $65,000 to complete a new equipment building. As the Randy Custis Memorial Park continues to grow, offering healthy recreational activities for more and more Shore families, our facilities must expand as well.
